Laser Skin Resurfacing

With CO2 fractional laser resurfacing, we reduce the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes, acne scars, and sun spots. We do this with a specialized laser that treats microscopic columns of skin. (It’s similar to how aeration works on a lawn.) By removing these minuscule columns of skin, your body is tricked into thinking there has been an injury to the skin. In response, the body naturally floods the area with water, blood, and collagen to repair the microscopic columns. The result is a complete rejuvenation of your skin, literally from the inside out.

CO2 fractional laser resurfacing combines the effectiveness of traditional carbon dioxide lasers with a new application technique. Because only columns of the skin are removed, healing time is significantly less, and the risk of lightening is reduced.

Why Should I Choose CO2 Fractional Laser Therapy?

Collagen is the main protein of the connective tissue in your entire body—it’s found in the bones, muscles, skin, and tendons. It’s also what keeps your skin plump and wrinkle-free.

Collagen levels will naturally deplete over time, but the rate at which your levels deplete can be accelerated by certain behaviors, including:

  • smoking
  • high sugar consumption
  • exposure to sunlight and pollution

The good news is CO2 fractional laser stimulates your body to make new collagen, which gives you a healthier, more youthful appearance that can last for years.

What’s the Recovery Time?

Skin resurfacing is not a simple cosmetic procedure, and therefore it must be performed in a doctor’s office. In most cases, it causes little or no bleeding (though severely damaged skin may bleed). The most common side effects are redness and swelling that lasts about two days.

Good skin care before and after CO2 fractional laser treatment is very important and will minimize your chance of complications after the procedure is done. Newly lasered skin must be kept moist, so you will be required to apply a thick ointment for several days following the treatment.

Full recovery time will depend on your body’s natural healing ability and the depth of the laser treatment.
